THE Start It programme

Start It’s programme of teaching, mentoring and hands-on activities is tailored for young people to allow them to become the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators within the sustainability space.

I found the experience of actually building the business and brainstorming ideas with new people extremely valuable and rewarding

YEAR 11 STUDENT, THE FULHAM BOYS SCHOOL

Start It consists of a variety of workshops, games, activities and courses all designed to put in place the building blocks required to develop a successful entrepreneurial mindset by providing a clearly-structured and continuous programme that builds up skills from primary school to Y13 (end of secondary).

Supported by a uniquely rich network of alumni, parental groups and business partners, Start It utilises the connections and experience of our community and the enthusiasm and endless potential of young people involved, as they acquire the confidence and skills to start their own businesses, or stand out from the crowd within a competitive applicant field, by learning the importance of innovation, financial literacy, and presentation skills at an early stage.

An important focus of Start It is to foster collaboration between different groups of young people and to address social and environmental issues through enterprising behaviour. In addition to learning about and understanding key principles of business, finance and enterprise, students will learn a variety of soft skills, including leadership, management, presentation, brainstorming, seeking initiative, and discipline.

Start it coordinates the many entrepreneurial-based initiatives (Young Enterprise, LSE Mentorpreneurship, RedStart Money Matters etc) currently active within schools and the wider community.
